555 Studios opened in December of 2004 at the original East Lake street location.

In the spring of 2006 the current location on Minnehaha was secured.  In March 2007 the Lake Street location closed its doors and all operations were transferred to 3965 Minnehaha.

Over the years the client base has grown, the studio has changed its look both inside and out, but the one constant has been the approach to custom tattoos and design.

From the beginning the goal has always been to involve clients in the design and drawing phase of the tattoo process.  The scenario where a client meets with an artist, pays a "drawing fee", only to return 3 weeks later to a design they aren't happy with can be avoided by including the client DURING the process instead of after the fact.

DEPOSITS:  First time clients, clients who have missed a previous appointment and the chronically late/undependable will be asked to put down a deposit non-refundable $60 deposit at least a week prior to an appointment. The deposit will go toward the tattoo cost as long as the appointment is kept.  If a client misses or cancels without at least 24 hours notice the full deposit amount is kept by the studio.

If a client is more that 15 minutes late $30 is kept and the remainder is applied to the tattoo cost. If a client is 30 or more minutes late, the appointment is cancelled and any deposits are forfeited.

If a returning client misses or cancels without at least 24 hours notice they will be required to pay $60 for the missed appointment and asked to make a $60 deposit to book their next appointment.

Deposits can be mailed, made in the DEPOSIT section on this website or dropped off in the studio mailbox (be sure to include you name and appointment date).

PLANNING: The beginning of the design process typically starts via text or email.  Clients are encouraged to send images and descriptions of ideas that will be further developed the day of the actual tattoo. As stated above, I feel that it’s important for clients to be present for the process so that options can be voiced and feedback can be given.

Actual photos of objects are always preferred for working reference.  For example, if you are running a search online for a tattoo of a rose, search for actual photos of roses NOT photos of already tattooed roses. Reality is always the best reference.  Already tattooed images are great to get an idea of placement, size or the general “feel” you’re going for but they aren’t something I will copy or work from.

APPOINTMENTS: Appointments are typically taken at 11am and 3pm Wednesday-Saturday with a few Sundays here and there.  The schedule is usually booked about 2 weeks in advance.

If you have a special time or date request please text 612-723-3587 or email 555studiosmpls@gmail.com to make arrangements.

RATES: All tattoos are done by the hour, $130 per hour with a $60 minimum.

Clients are only charged for actual tattoo time.  Typically there is no charge for the time spent drawing or designing.

If you feel that a design appointment is necessary please specify when contacting.  In that case design/drawing sessions run $60 per hour.
